Change email notifications

You can turn on notifications to get alerts on your phone or computer when you get new emails. COMPUTER   Turn notifications on or off You can get email notifications on Google Chrome, Firefox, or Safari when you're signed in to Gmail and have it open in your browser. Note:  You won't see any notifications if you turned off all notifications for your browser. On your computer, open  Gmail . In the top right, click Settings >  Settings . Scroll down to the "Desktop notifications" section. Select  New mail notifications on ,  Important mail notifications on , or  Mail notifications off . At the bottom of the page, click  Save Changes . Note:  If you use  inbox categories  and turned on notifications for new mail, you'll only get notifications about messages in your Primary category. If you turned on notifications for important mail, you'll get notifications for everything marked as  important .

Click the  All Mail  drop down, then select  Mail & Spam & Trash . Enter some information that’s in the missing email. If you're not sure about exact words or details, leave the fields blank. Create rules to filter your emails

You can manage your incoming mail using Gmail’s filters to send email to a label, or archive, delete, star, or automatically forward your mail.  Create a filter Open  Gmail . In the search box at the top, click the Down arrow . Enter your search criteria. If you want to check that your search worked correctly, see what emails show up by clicking Search.   At the bottom of the search window, click  Create filter with this search .  Choose what you’d like the filter to do. Click  Create filter . Note:  When you create a filter to forward messages, only new messages will be affected. ​Additionally, when someone replies to a message you've filtered, the reply will only be filtered if it meets the same search criteria.  Use a particular message to create a filter Open  Gmail .
